Announcing NEW 2023 Class Schedule

We are pleased to announce that in addition to our standard training, we will be offering classes on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 8am - 10am. There will be no fee required but sign up is a must due to limited space.

  • NuComfort LLC Location: $200 first 2 hours and $100 each additional hour
  • Your Location: $300 first 2 hours and $100 each additional hour

Classes at your location require a quiet room with minimal interruptions. Class length depends on topic and experience of attendees.


NATE and CFC Testing

Brazing Techniques

$ 200 /+ $15 for Supplies

Time required is 1.5 to 3 hours depending on past experience. It covers brazing techniques for installation, leak repair and compressor replacement, safety, proper use of torches, alloys etc. The attendee will assemble and braze together a closed copper tubing project with brazed on permanent access valves that is leak tested. Class fee $200.00 plus $15.00 for supplies.

Basic Electricity

$ 300 /TOTAL

Time required with no past experience is 4 to 6 hours. The class includes theory, safety, wiring diagrams, appliance and HVAC electricity, and an introduction to the proper use of test instruments and troubleshooting. Class fee $300.00.

Basics of Gas or Oil Heating

$ 200 /TOTAL

Time required depends on past experience. A complete class takes 4 days for those that have a mechanical background with little or no HVAC experience. Topics covered are combustion, component parts and function, proper sizing, ignition, safety, tools, instruments, installation, diagnosing, 80% & 90+% furnaces, live equipment demonstrations etc. A new person completing this class will still require some hands on field experience. Class fee $300.00 per day.

Basics for Refrigeration, AC and Heat Pumps

$ 300 /TOTAL

Time required depends on past experience. A complete class takes 4 days for those that have a mechanical background with little or no HVAC experience. Topics are refrigeration theory, thermodynamics, terminology, AC component parts and function, proper sizing, safety, tools, instruments, installation, diagnosing, charging procedures, live equipment demonstrations etc. A new person completing this class will still require some hands on field experience. Note: CFC certification is available for an additional fee and is required to service AC equipment. Class fee $300.00 per day.

Heating Diagnostics and PM Checks

$ 300 /TOTAL

This class requires 2 to 4 hours depending on topics covered. A typical class includes a review of the necessary basics and then in depth coverage of the Heating Jobsite Information Sheet. You will learn how to fill out the jobsite inspection sheet and check 17 different functions of a furnace in less than 20 minutes. This will help you check, diagnose and resolve furnace problems efficiently and quickly. Class fee $300.00.

AC Diagnostics and PM Checks

$ 300 /TOTAL

This class requires 2 to 4 hours depending on topics covered. A typical class includes a review of the necessary basics and then in depth coverage of the AC Jobsite Information Sheet. You will learn how to fill out the jobsite inspection sheet and check the AC installation and complete operation in less than 20 minutes. This will help you check, diagnose and resolve AC problems efficiently and quickly. Class fee $300.00.

R 410a Certification

$ 200 /TOTAL

Time required is 2 hours. This class will compare the similarities and differences between R22 and R410A. Topics included are temperature/pressure relationships, chemical composition, storage cylinders, high pressure tools, safety procedures, driers, controls, oils, etc. Also covered is installation and servicing procedures. Upon completion, a NuComfort certificate will be issued. Class fee $200.00.

Furnace Test Instruments

$ 300 /TOTAL

Time required is 2 to 4 hours. Topics covered are safety and a complete review of why, how and when to use furnace test instruments. Examples of the instruments and tools discussed are VOM, capacitor analyzer, microamps, magnehelic gauges, various gas pressure testing tools, electronic thermometers, combustion leak detectors, combustion analyzers, various heat exchanger tools to check for cracks etc. Class fee $300.00.

Economizers

$ 300 /TOTAL

Time required is 2 to 4 hours. A free handout text is used to demonstrate the application, installation, sequence of operation and servicing of the package unit economizer. You will learn about the advantage of using the economizer to get “free” air conditioning when the ambient is cool and the conditioned space is warm. Also covered are how to make proper control settings and troubleshooting. Class fee $300.00.

Variable Speed Blower Motors

$ 200 /TOTAL

Time required is 2 hours. This class covers the application, operation and servicing of the variable speed blower motor. Handouts are included with wiring diagrams. You will learn how to troubleshoot the ECM motor with a VOM. You will also learn how to set the air flow dip switches for proper heating temperature rise and AC evaporator air flow. ESP will also be explained and how to check it. Class fee $200.00.

Basic Hydronics

$ 300 /TOTAL

Time required is 2 to 4 hours. This class covers the principles of forced hot water and steam systems and boilers. You will learn about piping, radiation, controls, application, sizing component parts and troubleshooting of hydronic heating systems. Crown Boiler handouts are also included. The prerequisite for this class is experience with installation or servicing of gas furnaces. Class fee $300.00.

Extended Warranties & Technical Motivation

$ 200 /TOTAL

Time required is 2 hours. This class is intended for any HVAC employee. It covers the reasons to sell extended warranties and why it is good for the company, the technician and most of all for the customer.
